"We're called the Thunder Egg Consort because the thunder egg is our state rock here in Oregon. It's a round, lava covered rock which, when split open, reveals a breathtaking opal, jasper or agate—no two are the same. Just like a Thunder Egg Consort concert!"
BIOGRAPHY
The Thunder Egg Consort is a piano quartet whose flexible programming encompasses classical, Americana and "Gypsy" music. Violinist Anthea Kreston, and cellist, Jason Duckles, were founding members of the extremely active Amelia Piano Trio, which collaborated with Yo-Yo Ma in the Silk Road Project. Violist Kenji Bunch is an acclaimed composer specializing in bluegrass-style music; one of his crowd-pleasing pieces is included in every Thunder Egg concert.
Trained at Juilliard and the Curtis Institute of Music, these world-renowned musicians have graced legendary stages from Carnegie to London's Wigmore Hall, from Melbourne to Paris. Winners of the European Grammy, Munich’s ARD, and New York’s Young Concert Artist international awards, they delight audiences with their stunning performances and approachable personalities.
