In the stories that lie between seemingly disparate works, we find a thread of humanity, love, suffering, and life. A Beo concert starts there; the music says the rest.

BIOGRAPHY

The eclectic and highly polished Beo String Quartet takes their name from a Latin word meaning “to bless, make happy, gladden, and delight." Founded in 2015, Beo has created a niche for itself as a daring, genre-defying ensemble whose performances have been compared to those of the best among 21st century international string quartets.

On January 31, 2023, Beo made an auspicious New York début at the distinguished Morgan Library and Museum. The New York Classical Review, called their début "outstanding . . . the sheer sound of the quartet was invigorating and deeply satisfying. As was their artistry, which came across in both the programming and the playing . . . skill, passion, and strength . . . sheer expressive force."

And The New York Concert Review raved about Beo's "absolute purity of intonation [and] supernatural one-ness of interpretive intent that animates the best quartets."

The same day as their NY début, Beo released a new album on their NeuKraft Records label entitled “131,” named for Beethoven’s celebrated Op.131 String Quartet. Reviews of the CD in the spring 2023 issue of Fanfare include: "this is a hip, full-immersion quartet capable of far-reaching achievements” and “compelling, thought-provoking, and musically satisfying.”

Additional highlights of Beo's current season include nationwide U.S. tours, a successful showcase at the Chamber Music America conference, and international festival appearances in Brazil and Colombia.

“The sheer sound of the quartet was invigorating and deeply satisfying. As was their artistry, which came across in both the programming and the playing...[Neukom’s piece, People] was engrossing, even remarkable . . . skill, passion, and strength . . . sheer expressive force . . . thrilling.”

Often, the point of one of our own works—even when heavy on the tech—is to highlight the beauty and growing relevance of the acoustic string quartet.

— Carol Coppage, Laguna Woods Community Concert Association
Our audience loved BEO and raved about their performance. It was a huge success despite a snowfall which probably kept some people away. They were very congenial at our reception and seemed to enjoy visiting with everyone.
